Kilbane to launch new Ireland supporters’ club in Galway

Kevin Kilbane, who earned 110 caps for the Republic of Ireland between 1997 and 2011, is coming to Galway this weekend to launch a new RoI supporters’ club.

Kevin, who has played with Everton, Wigan, Hull City, and Coventry, will launch the Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club (Western Branch ) this Sunday at 7pm, upstairs in The Dáil Bar, Middle Street. Kevin is also the club’s honorary president.

FAI chief executive John Delaney and other FAI representatives are going to be attending the launch party as well. The RISSCW is recognised and endorsed by the FAI. The RISSCW is sponsored by The Dáil Bar.

The club was founded by Ger Blair (now its chairperson ) and Louise Mimnagh (now club secretary ) in April. The club now has more than 50 members and that number is expected to increase with the club’s formal launch.

The club runs buses to every home RoI game, departing from Eyre Square, with picks up along the way, returning shortly after the game finishes.

The RISSCW meet for any Ireland away games that members are not able to travel to, most recently the World cup qualifier against Kazakhstan. It is also planning an organised club away trip next year. See also www.facebook.com/RISSCW
