The “growing problem” of horses being brought to the pier in Clarinbridge for washing must be tackled immediately by the Galway County Council and An Garda Síochána.
This is the view of Independent Oranmore councillor Jim Cuddy who has been contacted by a number of farmers in the area. According to the farmers, when horses are being washed in the sea, the increased activity, and also “dogs running around”, is frightening their animals.
The council had erected warning signs that the practice carries a €200 fine but these were removed. Cllr Cuddy has been in contact with council officials is demanding that action be taken to have this practice stopped
