ALEX SKOVRON, the Australian based poet and author, will read at the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering in the Galway Arts Centre, Dominick Street, tomorrow at 8pm.
Alex Skovron was born in Poland, lived briefly in Israel, and emigrated to Australia in 1958, aged nine. He has five collections of poetry to date: The Rearrangement (1988 ), Sleeve Notes (1992 ), Infinite City (1999 ), The Man and the Map (2003 ); and Autographs (2008 ). His New & Selected Poems will be out later this year. Skovron has also written the novella, The Poet (2005 ). He also writes short stories.
Also reading is Irish-Australian Andy Kissane who has published three books of poetry, the novel Under The Same Sun, and the short story collection The Swarmr. Chinese-New Zealand novelist and poet Alison Wong will also read. Her first novel, As the Earth Turns Silver, was shortlisted for the 2010 Australian Prime Minister’s Literary Awards.
There will also be a reading by The Tuesday Knights group of poets and writers.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
