The Cast Of Cheers @ Róisín Dubh

STRANGE BREW at the Róisín Dubh next Thursday will play host to one of Ireland’s most exciting new bands, Dublin quartet The Cast of Cheers.

In a landscape where the knotty riffs and skittering rhythms of post-rock have become a tired cliché, rehashed almost beyond redemption, The Cast Of Cheers emerged in 2010 to give the format a much, needed kick up the rear, and made it sound interesting again.

The band demonstrated this in their live shows with an exciting mix of energy, intensity, and passion with skill, ability, technical prowess, and imagination.

Those early gigs made people aware of their debut album Chariot, which the band recorded in three days and put up on BandCamp for free. It received more than 150,000 downloads and netted them a nomination at the Choice Music Prize. Soon Zane Lowe and Fearne Cotton in Britain were playing their songs on their radio shows.

A Cast of Cheers live show is something to behold - a true blood, sweat, and tears shedding event and sets the stage for their second album, Family, released this year, and which contains the singles ‘Animals’ and ‘Goose’.

Doors are at 9pm. Tickets are €10/8 and available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
