Galway’s city and county mayors are calling on Galwegians to show their support for the Galway hurlers by flying the county flag.
The Galway hurlers face Kilkenny in the All Ireland senior hurling final in Croke Park on Sunday and in advance of the game, the Mayor of Galway City Terry O’Flaherty and the Mayor of the County Thomas Welby want private houses and businesses to turn the city and towns throughout the county into “a sea of maroon and white in support of the hurling heroes”.
“We would love to see the city and county councils show their support for the hurlers with a huge effort to fly the colours,” said the mayors. “Get out the flags and bunting and give the lads the support they deserve.”
