THE GALWAY Actors’ Workshop will hold beginners and specialised acting classes for the autumn in the Anno Santo Hotel, Threadneedle Road, Salthill.
The introduction to acting class (Mondays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm ) starts September 17 and covers all the basics in approaching acting and theatre through a varied selection of games, exercises, improvisations, and techniques.
The acting for fun class (Tuesdays, 11am to 1pm ) starts September 18 and deepens the skills encountered in previous classes, moving towards working on scripted scenes.
The playwrighting and devising class (Tuesdays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm ) September 18 guides students through creating a one-act play for the end of term and includes feedback on writing.
The scenes study course (Thursdays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm ) starts September 20 and is for more advanced students who want to develop their skills in voice, dialogue, characterisation, objectives, and rehearsal techniques.
The classes are run by Sarah O'Toole, a former member of Galway Youth Theatre and a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting. She worked in theatre and film in Ireland before going on to train as a director on Middlesex University’s International MA in theatre directing where she specialised in Shakespeare, comedy, Chekhov, and Balinese Theatre.
