Exciting new art at Lorg Printmakers’ exhibition

An exhibition of works by the recipients of the Lorg Printmakers Annual Bursary Award will take place at City Hall, Galway, from August 24 to September 24.

The winners of this year’s bursary, Norah Brennan and Claudia Keegan, will host a joint exhibition. Ms Brennan’s show is entitled Imagined Landscapes and shows light-hearted flights of fancy, using vibrant colours in mediums such as screen prints, lino-cut, and collage.

Claudia Keegan’s A Path I Slowly Followed tells of personal journeys and internal conflict. The work is an abstract journal of daily thoughts which arise in all of us yet make us feel removed from the rest of the world.

Both artists received the 2011/12 bursaries from Lorg Fine Art Printmakers, based in the Ballybane Enterprise Centre. The bursaries have allowed the artists to continue their work in the professional surroundings of the Lorg workshop following their graduation from GMIT.

The exhibition showcases the work they have been doing for the last year. It will be opened by James Harrold in City Hall on Friday August 24 at 6pm.
