Galway City Ed is a very modern state of the art study centre in the heart of Galway. The centre is run by the Galway City Education Company and is situated at the Plaza offices on the Headford Road, just a five minute stroll from Eyre Square. The study is supervised by highly experienced teachers who make themselves available to the students for assistance with their homework, learning, and revision. Advice and guidance is given to the students on study skills and the construction of study plans.
Study is conducted in a warm, relaxed, and comfortable atmosphere. Prior to Christmas it takes place from 6.15pm to 9.15pm, Monday through to Thursday. On Fridays it takes place from 5pm to 8pm. At weekends study facilities are available all day Saturday and it is also available on Sunday if the students desire it. Following the Christmas break study facilities are increased to four hours per evening. The centre is open during the holidays and students can avail of it on a daily basis in the run-up to the examinations (when schools are closed ) and during the sitting of the Leaving and Junior certificates.
In addition to study facilities the centre provides a comfortable foyer and canteen where students can avail of refreshments free of charge during their study breaks. Rooms and equipment are also provided for separate oral, aural, and project work and students attending the centre can avail of these facilities on request.
In addition to these excellent learning aids the centre provides individual and group tuition in all subjects. Students using the study facilities can avail of these tuitions at reduced cost. The centre also houses the largest applied maths group in the county and provides a comprehensive course for the HPAT.
