Actress and model Mischa Barton, best known for her role in the TV drama The OC, will be taking to the stage of the Town Hall Theatre for a production of Steel Magnolias.
Mischa will be performing in Robert Harling’s comedy drama which is touring Ireland in the autumn, where she will take on the role of Shelby Eatenton, the play’s main character.
Steel Magnolias begins on the morning of Shelby’s wedding and covers events over the next three years, including her decision to have a child despite having Type 1 diabetes and the complications which result from the decision.
The role will mark Mischa’s Irish theatrical debut and will run at the Town Hall from Thursday October 11 to Saturday 13.
Mischa began her acting career in 1994, training at the New York Theatre, and appearing in a number of theatre shows, before landing roles in Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense. However it was The OC, and the role of Marisa on the popular TV show, The OC, that made her a household name.
Her most recent films include the critically acclaimed, Assassination Of A High School President, where she starred alongside Bruce Willis, while she has a number of films to be released this year, including Bhopal: Prayer For Rain, which will also star Martin Sheen; and the horror movie Apartment 1303. She has also appeared in the video for Noel Gallagher’s single ‘Everybody’s On The Run’.
