GALWEGIANS WILL be among the first to see the new Irish sci-fi comedy Grabbers, starring Richard Coyle, Russell Tovey, and Ruth Bradley, when it gets an advanced screening at The Eye.
Grabbers was the sold-out opening movie at the Galway Film Fleadh and this is another opportunity for the city to see the film ahead of the rest of the country.
Ciarán O’Shea, a charming but heavy-drinking local garda is tasked with greeting Lisa Nolan, a strait-laced young officer who has just arrived in a small fishing village in the West of Ireland.
It is a quiet place with not much to do, aside from dealing with the occasional drunk, which is usually O’Shea himself. However strange things start to happen - the crew of a fishing boat disappears, whales start appearing dead on the shore, a local lobsterman catches a strange tentacled creature in his trap. Soon it becomes clear to Garda O’Shea and Nolan that there is something big out there, and that it’s hungry. It’s time to rally the villagers, arm the troops…and head to the pub!
Grabbers was written by Kevin Lehane and directed by Jon Wright. For more information and booking see www.eyecinema.ie or call 091 - 780078.
