Trailblaze, the discussion, performance, and event forum, showcasing creative and socially engaged ideas and projects, with some of Ireland’s leading cultural provocateurs, is coming to Galway.
The event, which is part of the Galway Arts Festival, takes place in the NUI Galway Aula Maxima this Saturday at 8.30pm and will include a panel discussion and musical performances.
The speakers are Sunny Jacobs, author of Stolen Time, a personal account of her time as an innocent man on death row; Colm O’Gorman, director of Amnesty Ireland; Manchán Magan, writer, globe trotter, and TV programme-maker; John O’Donoghue, the former presenter of the RTÉ current affairs programme, 7 Days; Dylan Haskins, filmmaker and broadcaster, and former independent political candidate; filmmaker Oonagh Kearney; and David Cunningham, founder of The Yoga Shala.
The music line-up for Trailblaze will feature a strong Galway presence through avant-garde/indie composer and performer Laura Sheeran and Clare born Galway based electro-pop/Irish trad/indie-pop musician Daithí Ó Dronaí. Also performing will be Kate Ellis and Linda Buckley.
The event is organised by the Trailblazery collective which produces pop-up social and cultural experiences in Ireland. The Trailblazery team showcase DIY activists, critical thinkers, artists, musicians, social entrepreneurs, provocateurs, luminaries and ordinary people across the spectrum who are all doing extraordinary things.
