Bee prepared with Anthisan

Insect bites and wasp stings are the number one reason for spoiling summer fun. According to a survey carried out by iReach for the antihistamine cream, Anthisan, 59 per cent of people have had a summer activity spoiled by an insect bite or wasp sting.

Each year half a million people experience an insect bite or wasp sting. The most common causes of bites and stings in Ireland include wasps, bees, mosquitoes and midges. There are 12,000 different types of insects in this country.

With children on school holidays, many families will be planning outdoor activities such as a picnic, a trip to the beach, a day in the park, or a game of tennis, so make sure to have a tube of Anthisan handy to combat the misery of pesky biting insects - the recent wet and sunny weather has created the ideal breeding ground for ramping up insect numbers.

Anthisan cream is an ideal frontline first aid cream and effectively relieves the pain, itching and inflammation caused by insect bites or wasp stings.

GP Dr Michael O Tighearnaigh says the pain and swelling caused by insect bites and stings can be eased considerably by application of an appropriate topical antihistamine cream.

“By easing the swelling this can reduce the risk of complications, such as secondary infection. Early use of a topical cream, such as Anthisan provides a safe and effective way to reduce these complications and need for further medical intervention.”

Anthisan cream contains two per cent w/w mepyramine maleate which provides triple action relief from insect bites, stings and nettle rash by relieving pain, soothing itching, reducing inflammation.
