Get running for the Streets of Galway

Galway’s most popular athletic event, the Streets of Galway 8k Road Race, will take place this year on August 11.

Launched this week, the 27th annual event will be sponsored again by local company Corrib Oil and more than 2,000 runners are set to take part.

Starting from South Park in the Claddagh, the race takes in the city centre streets, following a course out to Salthill before finishing with a two kilometre final stretch along with prom.

First staged in 1986, this event still adheres to its original ethos of “sport for all”, attracting runners of all standards and ages from all over Ireland - elite international athletes, club runners, competitors from other sports, joggers, and walkers.

All participants will receive a Streets of Galway t-shirt.

Entries are open at €18, with late entries €25. On-line entries are available at: http://www.runireland.com/events/streets-galway
