Galway Baroque Singers charity concert

THE GALWAY Baroque Singers will sing in St Mary’s Church, The Claddagh, on Thursday June 28 for a fundraising concert in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation.

The programme will consist of sacred motets, operatic choruses, Gilbert and Sullivan songs, and popular modern pieces. The choir will be directed by Audrey Corbett and accompanied by Morgan Cooke.

Two choir members, Gerry McGrath and Fin Garvey, are seeking to raise a minimum of €2,000 each in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation’s Nurses for Nightcare Programme by cycling the 660km from Lyon to Nice. The pair will spend up to 10 hours a day cycling along the route.

“We are funding the cost of the trip ourselves in addition to the €2,000 minimum target we must raise,” says Messrs McGrath and Garvey. “We are being supported by our friends in the Galway Baroque Singers.”

The concert begins at 8.30pm and tickets at €10 will be on sale at the door.
