THE 2012 Galway Fringe Festival programme launch takes place tomorrow at 6pm in Kelly’s Bar, Bridge Street. The festival runs from July 12 to 30.
The festival will include more than 100 local, Irish, and international acts including comedy, children’s events, puppetry, craft, visual arts, photography, music, theatre, storytelling, workshops, and Irish language events.
Among the highlights will be a concert by the Italian pianist Antonio Breschi (aka Antoni O’Breschi ) at The g Hotel on Thursday July 19 and Saturday 21. Hotpress has called him “a genius. One of the most innovative musicians working in any contemporary medium”, while World Music Magazine described his work as “a caress that obliges us to feel human at least for a few moments”. Admission is €15.
Other concerts to look forward to are from The Late Late Show house band The Camembert Quartet; Athenry roots-rockers The Deans; Eamonn Dowd and The Racketeers; and the Athenry Music School Guitar Orchestra.
Among the theatre shows will be a production of Third Time Lucky, written by Paul McCarrick and directed by Mary Louise Conroy, from July 23 to 25, in The Townhouse Bar, Quay Lane, at 1pm. Tickets are €7/5.
