A 39-year-old man accused of being in possession of fish hooks for the purpose of stealing clothes from clothing bins has been further remanded on continuing bail.
Nerijus Zavestauskas, with an address at 1 Asca Beag, Mincloon, Rahoon, appeared in Galway District Court on Monday charged with two counts of possession of certain articles and one count of theft at Siobhan McKenna Road on May 17, 2012
Inspector Ernie Whyte told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the matter being dealt with summarily in the District Court. He added that it will be alleged that Zavestauskas, a Lithuanian national, had been caught stealing clothes from a clothing bin and that he had been in possession of two fish hooks to enable the theft.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy accepted jurisdiction in the matter and remanded the accused on continuing bail to appear in court again on July 11 for election. Legal aid was also granted.
