Lazik to play Kelly’s next Wednesday

Kelly’s will play host to a gig from Lazik on Friday June 13, at 9pm, as part of the Galway Sessions. This enthusiastic and energetic musical combo consists of members from Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

Like the band themselves, their music is a real international affair. They began life as a group of session musicians in Cork, before realising that the conventional path of standard traditional music wasn’t for them. In 2005, the group became Lazik, embracing music and rhythms from all over the world. Recently releasing the album Far Fetched, Lazik’s sound is a combination of Scandinavian, Bulgarian, Breton, Irish, and Greek influences, to name but a few. Lazik have toured Europe with their gypsy-tinged tunes, including sets at the Ennis Trad Fest, Cork Folk Fest, and the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire. Consisting of Barry O’Donovan (guitar ), Christelle Moisan (flute/vocals ) Stella Rodrigues (fiddle/voice ) Dylan Gully (clarinet ), Yvonne Leahy (fiddle ), Christian Martin (electric bass ), and JB Heine (percussion ). They play with an incredible live energy so world music fans are urged to visit Kelly’s next Wednesday. Admission €15.
