Volunteers are needed to help raise vital funds for Galway Hospice on National Sunflower Day on Friday June 8.
“We need as many volunteers as possible to sell sunflowers in Galway city and throughout the county on behalf of Galway Hospice,” says a spokesperson for the organisation which is based in Renmore.
“On Friday next the bright yellow life-inspiring sunflowers, recognised as the hospice emblem, will be sold throughout Ireland. The funds raised throughout Galway city and county will go directly towards funding the Galway Hospice home care, day care and bereavement support services which depend totally on voluntary contributions.”
Last year Galway Hospice home care team made 5,813 “Hospice at Home” visits and there were 1,259 attendances at the hospice’s day care unit. All hospice services are provided free to patients and families for as long as required.
“Fundraising events such as Sunflower Days are very important to the hospice to ensure the ongoing free availability of hospice services to patients and families coping with the impact of life-limiting illnesses. Please help us to continue helping others.”
