Galway kettlebell specialists Sarah Smith and Ronnie Warde were gold medal winners at the recent open competition held in Wexford.
Sarah Smith received a gold medal in the discipline of long cycle 16kg kettlebell in 68 kg weight category, achieving 96 repetitions in total. It was a huge achievment for the Galway native who won her first medal competing with a 16kg weight for the first time.
Ronnie Warde, another Galway native, was selected for the Irish team with a gold medal in long cycle 24kgs, achieving 79 repetitions - another big success having only began training with kettlebells six months ago
More than 60 people competed in this two-day event which was an open competition with rules according to International Union of Kettlebell Lifting. For the first time in Ireland it was open to novice, amateurs, professional, and senior divisions.
