AUGHNANURE CASTLE in Oughterard will be filled with the sound of Scottish traditional music and song this weekend as part of the Galway Early Music Festival.
The concert, entitled Interlace & the Otherworld, takes place this Sunday at 6pm and will be performed by the group Coracle, featuring early Irish harpist Siobhán Armstrong, Glasgow bagpiper Barnaby Brown, and Scots-Gaelic singer Griogair Labhruidh. The songs and music will be drawn from Scottish highland music and poetry.
Aughnanure Castle is a 16th century tower house near Lough Corrib that was associated with the ‘Ferocious’ O’Flaherty clan.
GEM has a bus to and from the event, which can be booked with tickets. For more information and booking see www.galwayearlymusic.com
