The major question among those hoping to become Fianna Fáil candidates in the next Local Election is when are the interviews taking place. To date they have received no answer.
The interviews for prospective Fianna Fáil candidates for the June Local Elections in Mayo were held last Friday and interviews for candidates in many of the other counties have also taken place.
However Galway candidates have still to be interviewed and there is now anxiety among them as they fear that the longer they go without an interview, the shorter run-in time they will have to canvass.
The sitting councillors throughout the city and county will all be running again and so are not required to take part in the interview. However those individuals who are not councillors and are seeking the right to stand are understood to be phoning leading FF figures in Connacht and Dublin in the hope of getting a definite date for when the interviews will begin. Mention has been made of December, but nothing more definite has emerged.FF hopefuls sweat it out waiting for interview date
