Canning maintains form

Joe Canning scored 1-8 as a young Galway team defeated Limerick in a lively challenge in Athenry on Saturday evening. The home side won by 2-20 to 1-18.

Manager Anthony Cunningham used 21 of last year's All-Ireland u-21 winners in the joust. The home side led by 0-13 to 0-7 at the break and they pushed further ahead five minutes into the second half when the Portumna star drilled a 25-metre free to the net.
