Mellows to face St Thomas

Liam Mellows, who suffered a disappointing 0-17 to 1-8 defeat to Turloughmore at Pearse Stadium last Sunday, were drawn against St Thomas in round two of the Salhtill Hotel Senior Hurling Championship.

Jeffrey Lynskey’s side will have to buck up after last weekend’s performance if they are to avoid getting sucked into the quagmire of relegation by the second week of summer.

Former All-Ireland club champions Portumna and Clarinbridge were also in the hat for the round two games following their defeats last weekend and they will face Ardrahan and Mullagh respectively in a draw that promises to provide some high octane and top quality hurling action.

The other ties will see Carnmore take on Padraig Pearses and Athenry face the losers of the Kiltormer and Castlegar game replay, which has been fixed for next Monday.

The full draw for round two ( May 12-13 ): Portumna v Ardrahan; Clarinbridge v Mullagh; Carnmore v Padraig Pearses; St Thomas v Liam Mellows; Athenry v losers of Kiltormer/Castlegar.
