Agricultural lands in Tully and Kilcolgan for auction

Recognising that there is growing demand for good quality agricultural land, which may in the past have had significant development value, Spencer auctioneers is holding an auction of lands which are either in or very close to village centres in Co Galway. The auction, which will be held at the Menlo Park Hotel from 2.30pm on Friday May 11, is of parcels of grazing land in Tully near Renvyle, and Kilcolgan.

The first lot is a parcel of 11 acres set in the centre of Tully village with 480 metres of road frontage and outstanding coastal, lake, and mountain views. Spencer auctioneers is guiding €150,000 for this parcel of mixed quality grazing lands.

An executor’s sale of six parcels of land in Kilcolgan, located only 400 metres from the centre of the village in Killeely More, will also be offered for sale. These parcels range from one acre up to 3.8 acres, and vary from prime arable land to improvable grazing land with guide prices starting at €8,500. The timing of the sale of the these lands, with payment of the completion money required on April 25, will enable purchasers to include these lands in 2012 Single Farm Payment claims.

All these parcels at Killeely More, Kilcolgan, have extensive road frontages which will give the buyers long term site potential for those fulfilling local housing criteria.

Having being instructed to sell more than 1,000 acres of agricultural land in the last two years, Spencer auctioneers has seen significant strengthening in the price of agricultural land both for sale and for let on grazing agreements, where the company currently manages more than 800 acres of lands in all areas of western Co Galway.

Consequently, the auctioneers are expecting strong demand for these lands in Tully and Kilcolgan which are going under the hammer in Galway on May 11.
