After a successful double header last weekend, Galway Titans, currently occupying third place in the league table, now travel to Limerick to take on Limerick Lions on Saturday.
Titans know they will have to find a way to stop the impressive Matthew Hall on point guard duty, while ex-Moycullen centre Adrian Walsh will also be in action for the Limerick outfit.
The fixture comes after Titans banked two National League wins at the weekend, both by impressive margins.
They first overcame Portlaoise by 51 points in NUIG, and followed up with a 41-point win against AOL Broadband Waterford in Renmore on Sunday.
Titans jumped to an early lead against Portlaoise, who struggled to curtail the three-point threat of Rimvydas Visockas. The second quarter was a blow out as Titans increased their lead to 21 points with Danny Finn and Darren Callanan chipping in points. Portlaoise had no response after the break and coach Lynch used the opportunity to rest his first-five. Conall MacMichael buried four three-pointers to extend the winning margin to Titans 101 Portlaoise 50.
On Sunday Titans returned to their old stomping ground of Renmore Community Centre, and maintained the intensity they had shown the previous day. Titans got a chance to run their bench in another one-sided game which finished 96-55.
Viscokas and Finn continued their recent good shooting form, while Freeman, Peldzius, and Callanan were too strong inside for Waterford. Titans’ strong offence, coupled with their aggressive defence, had Waterford run ragged by half time. Titans scored 62 points during this period, limiting Waterford to 28 points.
A patchy third quarter broke Titans’ momentum, but their defence was the dominant force in this game in which they ran out easy winners.
