Dragon Duffy to launch mentoring programme in city next month

RTE Dragon and serial investor Gavin Duffy will officially launch a new mentoring initiative for small businesses at the SCCUL Mentworking Evening in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill on Wednesday May 2 at 5.30pm.

Developed by SCCUL Enterprises, SCCUL Mentors.ie is a structured mentoring programme where the expertise of some 40 leading business figures in Galway will be shared with new and existing small business owners. Open to longstanding SME’s as well as start-ups and new business the initiative aims to help nurture and further develop local businesses in Galway.

Mentors will offer pro bono (free ) advice and guidance in the key areas of business planning, finance, sales, IT, marketing and PR, training and development, HR and quality.

Announcing the SCCUL Mentworking Evening, Jim Naughton, Chairman of SCCUL Enterprises said that Gavin Duffy was one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs, who has successfully invested in a number of companies and start ups.

“We are delighted that Gavin Duffy has agreed to launch SCCUL Mentors.ie and host the inaugural SCCUL Mentworking Event. Gavin is a very experienced mentor who is well known for the speed at which he scales the businesses he backs in the Den. We know that Gavin will be an inspiration to the mentoring panel and businesses involved in the programme,” said Jim Naughton.

Local businesses are invited to attend the SCCUL Mentworking Event to learn more about the SCCUL mentoring initiative and to avail of an opportunity to network with other businesses.

“The idea for SCCUL Mentors emerged from feedback received from participants in the SCCUL Entrepreneur Competition who derived significant benefits from talking with the competition judging panel. At times it can be a lonely and isolated road for owners of SMEs and this is a chance for SME owners to get access to different perspectives and to avail of invaluable guidance insight and advice to take their business to the next level,” concluded Mr. Naughton.
