Positive news on the injury front for Galway football was the return last weekend of Michael Meehan and Seán Armstrong for their respective clubs in the county league.
Meehan has been out for a long time with an ongoing and serious ankle injury, and it was a big boost for everyone who loves football in the county to hear he was able to hit a few points and get back into some competitive action with Caltra last weekend.
Obviously there is a long road to travel, and fingers crossed his ankle will hold up before he is in a position to be considered for any intercounty action.
It is hoped he can feature for Caltra in their next few league matches and ease himself back to match fitness.
Fellow Galway attacker Seán Armstrong also continued his comeback from injury when coming on for Salthill/Knocknacarra in their defeat to Milltown.
Armstrong looked sharp and fit and hit some good points on his introduction.
While pleased that both players are making progress on the injury front, Galway team manager Alan Mulholland is pragmatic about the situation. “If they are fit, it gives us more options. Both are top quality players and, hopefully over the next couple of weeks, they will pick up more game time.”
