Transition students from Athenry Presentation College and a member of Catwalk Model Agency are finalising their looks for the AKA (Athenry Kilimanjaro Achievers ) fashion show which takes place next week raising much-needed funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the Chernobyl Trust.
The event which takes place at the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, on Thursday, April 12, at 7.15pm, will see three Athenry Presentation students - Caoimhe Sammon, Tara Mogan, and Aishling Duffy - as well as Kristine from Catwalk Models take to the catwalk.
The girls are part of the AKA group and are climbing Kilimanjaro with 150 other students in August this year. The group are undertaking the climb along with Ian McKeever with a view to breaking the world record by getting the most amount of people on the summit at one time.
A number of local businesses have lent their support to the fashion show next week and these include Brown Thomas, Born, La Vida, Squisito, Hanleys, Richard Hughes Opticians, Vida, Swamp, TK Maxx, Hats by Oliver, Elvery’s Sports, Beverly Hills, and Flanagan’s Footwear. Make-up on the night will be by Benefit and Estée Lauder from Brown Thomas - with make-up artists offering free make-up touch-ups to attendees on the night - while hair will be by Carmel’s Hair Studio.
The event will start with a drinks reception which is sponsored by Clada Minerals. Tickets are €20 and are on sale now at some of the participating shops, on the door on the night or by contacting Stephanie on 087 9138664.
