Nationwide visits Cancer Care West

The services provided by Cancer Care West will be highlighted in a broadcast on popular RTE1 programme, Nationwide on Friday at 7pm.

Nationwide visited Cancer Care West’s support services centre at 72 Seamus Quirke Road, Westside, and spoke with Helen Greally, clinical psychologist about the charity’s unique psycho-oncology support services provided free to the community. Patients who avail of the centre’s daily support services were also interviewed and the exercise and yoga classes for patients were also filmed.

The RTE programme also paid a visit to Cancer Care West’s residential service, Inis Aoibhinn, which provides free accommodation and support to patients from throughout the west of Ireland receiving radiotherapy at Galway University Hospital. Nationwide spoke to Richard Flaherty, CEO of Cancer Care West, about the residence’s services and the charity’s various initiatives. Patients who are currently staying at Inis Aoibhinn while undergoing radiotherapy treatment at Galway University Hospital were also interviewed and oncology staff.
