Galway’s Titan Wheelers scalped the highly-fancied Dundalk Ravens in last weekend’s National League division one clash.
In their first year playing at national level, The Titans, an adult wheelchair bound team, are now lying fourth in the table with three games in hand.
Last weekend in Ardee, they recovered from a 17 - 13 half-time deficit to record a significant 31-29 victory. Down after the first quarter, Dave Kennedy, Stephen Melvin, James Hanley and big man Cian McLoughlin contribituted to the recovery that saw Titans go in at half time only three down. By the third quarter Titans had the measure of their opponents with Bartley Walsh taking control of the key and Paul Lynn penetrating the Ravens’ defence to take a two-point lead. The Wheelers’ charge was led in the third by Loic Bocquet with an impressive hat trick, and with both teams tied on 29, it was young Jack Colbert, making the step up from the Tornados, who grabbed a memorable winning basket.
