Video game inspired exhibition opens today

GAME ON/Re-Newing Media Art, a screening programme of film and video works using imagery and media of video games, desktop interfaces, and online software, opens this in Galway evening.

The exhibition opens in the 126 Gallery in Queen Street, at 6pm. It is curated by Chris Clarke and will feature works by Peggy Ahwesh, Paul B Davis, Michael Bell-Smith, Cao Fei, Faith Denham, JODI, Oliver Laric, Conor McGarrigle, and Takeshi Murata.

Game On explores the ways in which contemporary artists use and manipulate extant online materials and applications, often in order to challenge the rhetoric of user-interactivity and to highlight the aesthetics of the computer screen. åA 42-page publication has been produced to accompany the programme.

All are welcome. The gallery opening hours are Wednesdays to Saturdays, from 1pm to 6pm. For more information email [email protected] or see www.126.ie
