The Galway business community will launch a new initiative this Monday where they are inviting the public to speak as much Irish as possible while doing their shopping.
The initiative, from Conradh na Gaeilge and Gaillimh le Gaeilge, is a pilot scheme for Seachtain na Gaeilge which starts on Monday and runs up to and including St Patrick’s Day.
All participating businesses will have special signage detailing their participation in the scheme under the motto ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge – Give Irish a go!’ The objective of the scheme is to get people to use Irish and to provide them with a friendly environment in which to do so.
The businesses involved in ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge – Give Irish a go!’ include AIB Salthill, Chocolate Box, Colette Kelly Optometrists, Food 4 Thought, Forget-Them-Not, Hartmann’s Jewellers, McCambridge’s of Galway, Menlo Park Hotel, Moran’s of the Weir, Standún, Tobin Consulting Engineers, and Viña Mara.
Businesses which would like to participate should contact Conradh na Gaeilge on 091 - 567824.
