Norman Villa Gallery exhibition

THE ITALIAN born, Galway based artist Laura Vecchi Forde will host an exhibition of her paintings at the Norman Villa Gallery, Salthill.

The exhibition opens this evening and will be officially launched at 6pm by writer Jim Mullarkey and artist Holly Mullarky. There will be music by guitarist Daniel O’Donoghue.

Laura has been living in Galway since 1967 when she began teaching Italian language and literature in NUI Galway. She also held an exhibition in her native Italy that year an in addition to her academic work, continued to pursue art.

Laura works on mahogany, canvas and paper, and continues to exhibit in Ireland and Italy. Recently asked what drives her to paint, Laura replied that it is a wanting to communicate with the viewer. She has also published tow collections of poetry.

The exhibition runs until March 3.
