Massachusetts state police to march in St Patrick’s Day parade

Forty members of the Massachusetts state police will march in Galway’s St Patrick’s Day Parade which will take place on Saturday March 17.

The MSP was founded in September 1865, making it the oldest state-wide police agency in the United States. The primary mission was providing law enforcement to rural areas underserved by existing local police agencies. This law enforcement mission was performed by the trooper on horse back, usually, and later on in motor cars in areas with upgraded roads.

Galway’s St Patrick’s Day Parade will showcase local artists and community groups. The parade organisers are seeking applications from community groups, theatre groups, bands, performance groups, dance troupes, musicians, sporting organisations, youth groups, carnival groups, and vintage car owners.

The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Green’ and can be interpreted in any way.
