Gardaí are understood to have spoken to a number of witnesses following the fatal collision on Seamus Quirke Road in the early hours of Saturday.
The accident, which claimed the life of Mary Davey (19 ) from Coldwood in Craughwell, occurred at around 3.30am on Saturday.
The car which Ms Davey was driving hit a wall close to Westside Shopping Centre and overturned. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Ms Davey and the two other occupants of the vehicle were brought to UHG, where the young driver was pronounced dead.
Another young woman who was a passenger in the car was released from hospital on Sunday evening.
The other passenger, a 21-year-old man, remains in hospital with serious injuries. He is understood to be in a stable condition.
Ms Davey was buried in Athenry on Tuesday.
