The Galway hurlers will follow up their facile win over UCD last weekend when they take on Laois in the semi-final of the Walsh Cup on Sunday (2pm ) at Duggan Park.
Former dual All-Ireland winner with Cork in 1990, Teddy McCarthy, is over the O’Moore men this season and his charges had a good victory last Sunday in Portlaoise, beating Dublin by 2-14 to 1-14.
Galway, meanwhile, hammered UCD by 32 points in Belfield. It was a potent display and 6-25 is impressive scoring.
Manager Anthony Cunningham also put down a strong marker. Immediately after the final whistle, Cunningham,Tom Helebert and Mattie Kenny marched the Galway lads onto a back pitch where they spent 15 minutes doing sprint work.
While nobody is going to carried away with a big win over inferior opposition in January, there were still tell-tale signs that this should be an interesting year ahead in Galway hurling.
