•Galway United Supporters’ Trust fundraising CD Maroon Tunes is now on sale from the GUST office at Terryland Park, and from O'Brien’s Newsagents, William Street, Galway. Maroon Tunes can also be downloaded on-line, or purchased via mail order at www.maroontunes.com

•On Saturday January 28 the Renmore Rapid Judo Club is hosting the All Ireland Judo Championships. The event starts at 11am in the Renmore Sports Complex. Players from all Ireland, ranging from u-7 to senior men and women, will compete.

•Tuam AC hosted its annual 8k road race on Sunday in fine conditions with more than 500 participants. The pace at the front was blistering, with a superb winning time of 24:10 posted by Clare-native Sean Hehir representing Rathfarnham AC. Hehir was only four seconds clear of Paddy Hamilton of Annadale Striders of Belfast. Leading Galway man was Matt Bidwell of GCH in fourth place in 26:18, just two seconds ahead of Craughwell AC’s Peter O’Sullivan, who recorded a big personal best. The next club race in the road race calendar is Craughwell AC's 10-mile which doubles as the Galway AAI 10-mile championship. This year it takes place on March 18.

•The CBE Connacht Senior Squash League kicks off on Thursday January 26. Teams from Sligo, Galway, Claremorris, Ballinrobe and Loughrea will contest the league title. Loughrea is taking part for the first time and its team includes former Galway senior hurlers Peter Murphy and Fergal Healy. Ballinrobe will be hoping to go one step further than last year when they narrowly missed the league final play-offs. The first round matches sees Sligo hosting Ballinrobe and Galway at home to Loughrea.
