The Galway Arts Centre will host the National Gallery of Ireland’s Study Day for Leaving Cert Students in the Nuns Island Theatre.
The study day will take place on Thursday March 1 and will be presented by Brina Casey of the National Gallery of Ireland. She will cover art in Ireland and throughout Europe, from 1000 CE to the present day. The lecture functions as an intensive revision sessions focusing on key points – they are not intended as introductions to the topics. Handouts for each theme are provided.
Afterwards, students will be brought to Galway Arts Centre where visual arts officer Maeve Mulrennan will give a lecture on art appreciation, which is the third section of the Leaving Certificate History of Art paper.
This event is aimed specifically at students sitting the Leaving Cert Art History exam in June 2012. Booking is extremely limited for the two lectures and places must be reserved in advance. For more information contact Maeve Mulrennan on 091 - 565886 or email [email protected]
