Cambridge exam testing centre opens at Bridge Mills Galway Language Centre

Bridge Mills Galway Language Centre, a Department of Education-recognised training institute now in its 25th year of business, has just become a Cambridge examination testing centre offering FCE, CAE, and CPE testing facilities as well as a range of other Cambridge exams. Students can now complete their Cambridge examination preparation courses at the centre on a full-time basis in the morning or part-time in the evening and take their exam at the centre throughout the year.

Last year the school also became a FETAC centre. FETAC, one of the largest providers of certification for courses, is a State-run certification system, and Bridge Mills Galway Language Centre will soon be offering FETAC certification on its English language and foreign language programmes as well as on the other non-language programmes the centre runs.

“It’s a very exciting time for us after 25 years in business to become a Cambridge examination and FETAC centre,” said school director Patrick Creed. “And this year we plan to gain further international recognition for our language school.”

Foreign language classes include Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Polish, and a new term begins on January 23. As the biggest provider of teacher training courses in Ireland the school runs Department of Education TEFL CELT courses with a full-time course starting on January 23 and a part-time evening course beginning on January 24. Job placements overseas are available as part of these courses.

A Department of Education SQTTEFL/CLIL course for qualified primary and secondary teachers will run for one week during the Easter break. This course is particularly useful for teachers dealing with non-native speakers in their classes. Discounts are available for groups of teachers from the same school enrolling on this course.

The school runs general English and exam preparation classes (FCE/CAE/CPE/IELTS ) during the day and in the evening for speakers of other languages. Funding is also available for businesses wishing to train groups of employees in English language courses through the school.

Details on all courses are available at (091 ) 566468 or www.galwaylanguage.com
