In the current economic climate, low cost, fuel efficient, environmentally friendly motoring are some of the items at the top of every motorist’s agenda.
Citroen claims to be the leader in low emission motoring, and now it is introducing its new environmental signature - Airdream - which it says means lower emissions, lower taxes, lower running costs, and lower fuel bills for the consumer. I like the tag-line: "Kinder to the pocket and kinder to the planet."
Airdream identifies the models in the Citroen range which set industry standards for fuel efficiency and the reduction of C02 emissions. Along with achieving emissions of less than 140g/km of C02, the French carmaker tells us that all Airdream models are built in factories that meet strict ISO 14001 conditions and are 95 per cent recyclable at end of life.
More than 20 individual models within the Citroen range qualify for the Airdream signature – a total that no other car maker can match, signifying their leading status on environmental responsibility. From city cars to family MPVs, coupés to executive saloons, Citroen claims there is a Citroen Airdream model to suit every buyer.
In the lowest tax category, 'band A', costing €104 in annual road tax, they tell us you can choose from the C1 city car, the sporty C2, the versatile C3 supermini, the C4 coupe, or the C4 family hatchback. In band B with annual road tax of €156, Citroen says it offers family favourites such as the Xsara Picasso, the C4 Picasso five and seven seat, and the executive C5 saloon and tourer which all qualify for the Airdream signature.
And there's more - Citroen says in addition to boasting the widest range of environmentally friendly motoring, it is offering what it calls a recession-busting offer on many models in its 2009 Airdream range by giving up to €1,000 free fuel on selected Airdream models.
