Four Men and a Dog @ Monroe’s Live

FROM THEIR debut performance in Dungiven, County Derry, in 1990, Four Men and a Dog have been arguably the most colourful, eccentric, and talented of trad band ensembles.

The quintet Cathal Hayden (fiddle/banjo ), Donal Murphy (accordion ), Gerry O’Connor (banjo/fiddle ), Kevin Doherty (guitar/vocals ), and Gino Lupari (bodhran/vocals ) - are celebrating 21 years on the road and as part of a nationwide tour they play Monroes Live on Dominick Street this Saturday at 9pm.

Four Men & a Dog take an eclectic approach to music making, fusing Irish trad with rap, Southern rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, polka, country swing, and even salsa.

They have recorded six albums, including 1995’s Doctor A’s Secret Remedies, which was recorded at Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, NY, and also featured Helm’s fellow the Band member Garth Hudson. Four Men & a Dog’s new album is out next year.

Tickets are €15 and available from 091 - 583397 or www.monroes.ie
