Let’s hear it for Footloose

Kick off your Sunday shoes and join the PASG cast for Footloose the Musical in the Town Hall Theatre from November 24 to 26. Packed full of energetic dancing and eighties costumes, Footloose is one for all the family.

Featuring a dynamic young cast from PASG, this fast paced show is not only full of wonderful dance but delivers some classic eighties hits including ‘Holding Out For A Hero’, ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy’, and of course the unforgettable title track ‘Footloose’. These hits have without doubt become modern day anthems and the soundtrack has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. If you danced to them the first time around, you will love them all over again.

This all-dancing production is directed by Anna-Marie Clery and choreographed by Paula McGurrell, and it promises to be one to remember. The exceptional band, led by Ronan Dooney (RTE Late Late Show, The Corrs, Oasis ) creates an electric atmosphere and will have everyone dancing along in the aisles.

Based on the eighties movie which launched the careers of Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Jon Lithgow, Footloose has become a stage musical phenomenon. The small town of Bomont is peaceful until city boy Ren (Jack Malone ) moves in, breaks its taboos, and brings dance and laughter back to a town weighed down by the memory of a tragedy. Footloose is packed full of electrifying music guaranteed to have the whole family on their feet.

The cast of Footloose comprises 150 students from the Performing Arts School Galway (PASG ). Now celebrating its 20th year, PASG continues to offer students professional training. “We were delighted to have Adam Booth (Ren, Footloose UK ) give a spectacular workshop to the entire cast,” said school director Paula McGurrell. “This promises to be fantastic show and a magnificent way to celebrate our 20th year.”
