Fine Gael senator for Galway West, Fidelma Healy Eames, has been named as a patron of the Institute of Community Health Nurses (ICHN ).
Speaking of the honour, senator Healy Eames said: “I am delighted to have been selected as a patron of the ICHN. When I opened the ICHN annual conference recently, I made the point that public health nurses should be viewed as 'multipliers' of health. They visit 10,000 families per day and are present at key life moments.
“Public health nurses should be utilised not only as health providers but as health promoters. As the State's eyes and ears, we would be foolish not to maximise the huge potential of the public health nurse for health promotion amongst the population.”
