UHG launches ‘Meet and Greet’ service for visitors

A new “Meet and Greet” service has been set up at University Hospital Galway to help people visiting the facility.

The pilot project which is provided by volunteers aims to provide a friendly, helpful service, according to a spokesperson for the HSE West.

“Galway University Hospitals has launched a ‘Meet and Greet’ volunteer service. This pilot project has been developed to assist and support members of the public when visiting the hospital.

“The main role of the volunteer is to provide a friendly welcome and assist our visitors to their various wards, departments and clinics.”

Volunteers are currently available at the hospital’s main reception desk from10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm. At a future date they will operate from the reception desk at the outpatients department from Monday to Friday.

The HSE says it will take some time to fully establish this service.

“Volunteers undergo a selection process and are also provided with appropriate training.”
