Galway Film Society to screen two films this weekend

THE GALWAY Film Society begins its autumn/winter season this weekend with two screenings - one taking place on Galway Culture Night, the other on the traditional Sunday slot.

The GFS will screen Living Colour, Éamon Little’s documentary film exploring the world of an artists' collective in Callan, Co Kilkenny, which focuses on the artists’ abilities instead of their special needs. The screening is part of Culture Night and will be shown tomorrow at 9.30pm. This screening is free but places must be reserved.

The GDS screenings proper begin on Sunday at 8.15pm with French film Potiche (2010 ), starring two titans of French cinema - Catherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu.

Suzanne Pujol (Deneuve ) lives the life of a traditional housewife, doting on her grumpy husband who is driving her family’business into the ground. When the workers go on strike all hell breaks loose and Suzanne is left to run the company with the help of her former beau (Depardieu ).

Both films will be screened in the Town Hall and booking is through 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
