Computer Museum to open for Galway Culture Night

Would you like to see the earliest computer ever made? Meet those who are at the forefront of internet development? Well you can because it is all part of the upcoming Galway Culture Night.

Galway’s Culture Night takes place on Friday September 23 and among the many events that will be taking place on that date are events relating to science and technology.

Galway’s Digital Enterprise Research Institute is opening its Computer Museum at the IDA Business Park in Dangan. The museum will showcase vintage computers, printers, microprocessors, and classic early models. It will also show how major information technology companies, which set up in Galway, led the way in developing computers.

Also, on Culture Night, you will get to play the legendary video games from the late 1970s and early 1980s including Pacman, Space Invaders, and Asteroids. It will be open on the day until 8pm.

091 Labs in Tyrone House at Eyre Square will also hold events for Culture Night from 6pm to 8pm. 091 Labs is a collaborative community space for any and all creative projects: art, woodwork, software, photography and electronics. The aim is to provide Galway with a place for people to work and collaborate on creative projects, to learn and to share their knowledge.
