Galway Choral Association, Galway’s largest community choral group, is seeking new members for the coming season and male singers are particularly welcome.
Those who would like to sign up do not have to be able to read music. All that is needed is a love of singing. The choir, under the baton of musical director Norman Duffy, rehearses every Sunday in St Patrick’s Band Hall, beside Ceannt Railway Station, from 7.30pm.
The 50 strong adult choir has planned an exciting programme of sacred and secular choral works for the coming year and hope to undertake a short European tour in June 2012. Among their upcoming concerts will be the performance of Dvorak’s Mass in D Major in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church next March.
For information on membership and auditions contact Norman Duffy on 085 - 1441614 or email admin@ galwaychoral.ie The association has donated more than €10,000 in the last five years to local charities from concert revenues. Most recently, the choir’s chosen charity was the Irish Kidney Association which received a donation of €1,000 from the Galway Choral Association’s Summer Concert.
