Creatives, tech-heads, bloggers, believers asked to join the Michael D campaign at city meeting next week

Michael D Higgins stands a real chance of becoming the first west of Ireland man to become President of Ireland and a major drive is about to take place in Galway to get behind his campaign.

Those who wish to become volunteers and workers on Mr Higgins’ presidential campaign, regardless of their political affiliations, are being asked to attend a public meeting on Monday in the Menlo Park Hotel at 8pm.

The meeting will provide an update on plans for the campaign and ways in which people can help and volunteer. Details of the official campaign launch, concerts and fund-raisers will also be announced on the night.

“I invite all those who wish to see Michael D Higgins bring something new and distinctive to the presidency to get involved” said Labour Galway West TD Derek Nolan who is director of elections for Mr Higgins’ campaign in the constituency. “To make this vision a reality we need as many people as possible to get behind Michael D and make this campaign a resounding success.

“This campaign is much greater than the Labour Party. It is about electing a candidate with a vision and message for a presidency that is inclusive, creative, and dedicated to the welfare of the people of Ireland.”

The date of the presidential election is Thursday October 27. Those wishing to register their support can email [email protected] or call 091 - 524513.
