A CHARITY music gig in aid of Amnesty International will take place tonight from 8pm upstairs in Kelly’s Bar. Performers include Mikey and the Scallywags, Mark James, and Mumblaroo.
Mikey and the Scallywags, a Galway-based five piece, are an original storytelling band of musicians mixing an eclectic blend of folk-rock-gypsy-hip hop and bluegrass. The Clare Champion has described Mark James as “an enigmatic and profoundly lyrical songwriter”.
Mumblaroo are a group of Galway residents playing original covers with a twist of folk. Following the performances DJ Led will play a mixture of reggae, ska and old -school tunes.
”We are delighted that these great bands are giving their time for free to support the work of Amnesty International,” said Colm O’Gorman, the executive director of Amnesty International Ireland.
“All the profits from this gig will go to support our crucial work for human rights. The people of Galway are great supporters of Amnesty International and we hope as many possible will come to this event.”
Admission is €5, but those unwaged can make a donation.
