Julie Feeney to play Oranmore Celtic Shorefest

THE AWARD WINNING Athenry singer and avant-pop composer Julie Feeney will be among the many acts taking part in the Oranmore Celtic Shorefest which runs from Friday August 26 to Sunday 28.

The festival is a mix of concerts, heritage events, family fun, craft, and marine events, taking place in Oranmore.

The concerts take place on the Friday and Saturday. The Friday line-up is singer-songwriter Mundy, rock bands Bipolar Empire, Keywest, and Dirty Epics, and English singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson, who struck a chord with Irish audiences for his song ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’.

Saturday’s concert features trad-rock band Truir; reggae band Intinn; Clannad’s Moya Brennan with Cormac De Barra; Hothouse Flower Liam Ó Maonlai; Julie Feeney who will perform songs from her Choice Award winning debut 13 Songs and the critically acclaimed follow-up pages; singer Eleanor McEvoy; and the ever popular Sharon Shannon.

Other events to look out for include the photography competition which is open to anyone of any age; the Family Fun Day on Sunday 28 in Renville Park which includes bouncing castles, face painting, Zorbing, and boat rides; heritage events including a tour of Oranmore Castle; a craft fair, also on the castle grounds; and water based activities in conjunction with the Galway Bay Sailing Club.
